Aiming for Silver semi

Ins and outs ahead of crucial Silver Boot clash

COACH Pouria Nabi is aiming for a place in the Silver Boot Cup semi-finals tonight - but admits his main target is still 19 days away.

ACE face Grange in the final Group A match at Richlands, kick-off 6.30pm, knowing a sizeable victory is needed.

Easts top the group with six points and a goal difference of +3. Mitchelton are second on three points and +1 goal difference, ACE are third on three points and -1,  Grange last after two defeats.

A big win for ACE and narrow victory for Mitchelton over Easts, who start at 8.30pm, may help Pouria’s men squeeze through.

“If we get through of course I will be happy,” said coach Pouria. “But the top priority is getting the boys fit, ready and working as a team for Ipswich.”

ACE start their Flight Centre Premier League season at Ipswich Knights on February 18.

“I am happy where we are, in terms of preparations,” said Pouria. “Josh Hall is back in the squad tonight, but we will be missing a couple of players due to work commitments.”

Defender Declan Morris is also in the squad, continuing his comeback from injury.

Pouria is still looking to add a couple more players to his squad for this season and said “quality was the key” for potential targets.

However, ACE will not have Jonathan Marraiya in their ranks.

The midfielder’s work commitments have changed, along with his availability. As a result he has decided not to play this season.
