ACE reveal new pre-season fixtures - and an overseas striker
ACE has a new pre-season fixture list - and a key signing.
South Korean forward Young Nam Kim (pictured left), known as Lio, has put pen to paper and joined coach Steve Glockner’s squad.
The 31 year old can play across the front line and brings key qualities to the club, said Glockner (pictured right).
Lio is set make his competitive debut in ACE’s first pre-season game tomorrow (January 12) at North Pine. ACE the host Caboolture, Beerwah and Glasshouse and Toowong at Wolter Park.
“He (Lio) is a quality player, very experienced and has played at a good level in South Korea,” said Glockner.
“You could see clearly when he was training and playing with us, how smart he is and how important his experience will be.”
Lio played for Paju Citizen in the South Korean Division Four last season, but in 2010 was the top scorer in Division Two of the semi-professional league.
“I came here because ACE has a good environment, to learn some English and enjoy playing football,” he said.
The latter will not now involve the pre-season Gorilla Cup after ACE withdrew from the competition.
ACE Reserves and Senior teams now face North Pine at Bob Brock Park tomorrow, kick-off 6.30pm (Reserves) and 8.30pm (Seniors).
Wolter Park will then be visited by Caboolture on Saturday January 20 at 5pm/7pm, Beerwah and Glasshouse on Thursday January 25 6.30pm/8.30pm and Toowong on Sunday February 4 at 4pm/6pm.
“It will be nice get into the season,” said Glockner, “it (pre-season) is a process until you get to these games.
“Early on we’ll be looking to develop understanding. Everything is new here, for all of us, so players need to understand how I’m looking to play. Fitness is also important at this point.”
