Doug Brown, pictured, has played in the top three tiers of Queensland football, but says he “loves being back here”.
The 23 year old has returned to ACE for this year’s quest to win the Brisbane Premier League for a third successive season.
Doug quickly made his mark, scoring during ACE’s 5-1 pre-season victory against Brisbane Athletic at Wolter Park earlier this month.
Although beaten at Mitchelton in the rain on Sunday, the team is now focusing on Saturday’s FFA Cup Preliminary Round Two clash at Bayside United (5pm).
“I want to give 100 per cent effort, help the team and help with the league,” he said. “I think there’s a very good squad here, it’s very competitive, it’s going to be hard to get a spot in the team and keep it.
“The club has become very consistent over the last few years, within the premiership twice and grand final last year. It’s a good club and I love being back here with the lads.”
Doug played at ACE in 2017 before joining Sunshine Coast in the NPL Queensland under Ali Demircan, a former coach of the Moreton Bay United youth team.
From there he went to Mitchelton last season playing in the FQPL and is now back at Wolter Park in his favourite position.
“I’m playing back in midfield and scoring a few,” he said, “I used to be a defender, left back, but prefer midfield. It’s good to be back there and so far it has been really good.”
