ACE President Tony Dooley paid tribute to the players, members and volunteers for “a successful 2022 season”, in his report at the club’s AGM this week.
Mr Dooley said it had been another “arduous” year, but “as a club we have delivered success on the junior and senior playing fields”.
Last year saw the new Brendale clubhouse and additional pitches taking shape on the lower precinct, which is expected to be completed this year.

New concrete pathways have been added and a public address system on the upper precinct. At Wolter Park, a new electronic scoreboard was installed.
ACE men won promotion from FQPL 2, at the first attempt, the Under 23s were runners up and grand finalists. Early indications are both will be competitive again at the higher FQPL 1 level.
The spring five-a-side competition was “very efficiently run”; our kindy program continues to grow and ACE is in a “strong financial position”, Mr Dooley said.
However, this year has brought to an end the “brilliant running” of the canteens at Brendale and Wolter Park by Gribble Services.
Mr Dooley acknowledged the “quality of food and service” and thanked Kathy and Mark – both committee members in 2023 – on behalf of all customers.
Secretary Sarah Dixon also stepped down after five years in the role, with Mr Dooley saying Sarah’s “efforts and commitment have been unwavering and appreciated by everyone”.
Ten committee members have returned for 2023, but there are vacancies for Sponsorships, Carnival Co-ordinator and Female Representative positions.
“Through COVID 19, floods and uncertainty, the core group of us have been on this committee for a decade now and I am grateful to have the support of all of you,” Mr Dooley said.
“Let’s make it another great team effort in 2023.”
