ACE has announced a major signing with Jarod Lancaster, pictured above, returning for our debut in the FQPL competition.
The midfielder was a dominant figure in ACE’s drive to the 2019 Brisbane Premier League Premiership and Grand Final double.
He played 12 games that season, scoring three times and seven games in 2020 before suffering a broken leg and missing the entire 2021 campaign.
Many thought it would be the last time we saw the 29-year-old in the red and black of ACE.
But a phone call from coach Steve Glockner has proved otherwise.
“I was going to come back last year, about halfway through the season,” Jarod said, “but the team was obviously doing pretty well!
“Steve then got in touch for this season and I’m looking forward to getting back.”
Jarod will bring drive, determination and state league experience from his time with Easts, where he played FQPL in their promotion-winning season of 2018.
Coach Steve Glockner said: “I’m delighted to have Jarod back. He has been such an influential player in the past and will be next season.
“To have a player of his quality will be a major boost for our squad and plans.”
Jarod has been running and swimming for fitness, but is looking forward to getting back to full squad training.
“I think with their squad and facilities ACE should be at this level, if not higher in the (Football Queensland) pyramid,” he said.
“We have a really good group of players and I think we should be confident going into the FQPL2.”
