ACE is delighted to announce that Mel Di Pietro is the club’s new Female Director of Coaching (DoC).
Mel brings seven years of coaching experience at this club to the role – plus a passion for football.
He started coaching at ACE in 2016, first taking charge of his son’s under 7 side and has not looked back.
In the last three years Mel has coached at BYPL (Brisbane Youth Premier League) level and 2023 will be the fifth year of coaching his daughter’s under 12 team.
“Being a father of a daughter that loves soccer, I accepted the DoC role as I believe we have vast talent among our female players,” he said.
“I want to see a greater focus placed on their development.
“I will work closely with coaches and players to implement the training programs set out by the technical director.
“My aim is to help develop a program which fosters player development and sees ACE able to offer a high-level program to female players.”
Through his coaching experience, Mel aims to “assist with increasing the number of females wanting to join soccer”.
“And tailor training sessions to suit various skill levels, hence, offering greater opportunities to all players,” he said.
Mel’s appointment adds to the ACE junior DoC coaching team, working under club DoC Hugo Labaredas.
This includes Peter Ziu as DOC for the under 8s, Paddy Higgins for our Under 9, Under 10 and Under 12 teams and Andy Hughes for the Under 11s.
