Meet Mark and Kath Gribble, pictured above, who have taken over the running of our canteens at Brendale and Wolter Park.
They are well known on and off the pitch having first joined ACE in 2011 when their daughter started playing. Both started playing in the ACE five-a-side social tournament soon after.
In 2017 Mark started playing for the Over 35 Men’s team and was this year, he says, ‘promoted’ to the Over 45s!
Kath plays for the Women’s Over 30 Red Bears and ran the merchandise shop at South Pine Sports Complex in 2018.
Now they looking to put their touch to the matchday fare at both our venues through the regular season and the spring five-a-side.
“We will be serving the good old standard canteen food of hot chips, pies, sausage rolls etc, but we are also looking to add some fresh and varied options,” said Mark.
“Options like pulled pork and slaw rolls, pulled beef nachos, fruit salads, salads and the like to hopefully offer options for all food preferences.
“At Wolter Park, the pizza oven is still in operation with a plan to offer occasional specials to add a bit of variety to the menu, for example, lasagne and garlic bread, or hot soups.
“We are happy to hear if there are other options that the members/players/parents might have for us to consider offering at the canteens.
“All feedback is welcome.”
Mark said the canteens would be open for competition games with the aim to open up at least 30 minutes before matches kick off.
“Apart from us, some of our team (Liam, Jenna and Jade) should look familiar as they are the wonderful team that was working with Amir for many years,” said Kath.
“We are very grateful to have them and their experience. We have also added two new members in Tahlia and Kobe.”
Kath and Mark plan to share updates, new offerings and information from the canteens with everyone at ACE and Moreton Bay United on Facebook.
