ACE President Tony Dooley told Thursday’s Annual General Meeting that the club has “continued to prosper” in these turbulent COVID times.
Mr Dooley said it was “due to the commitment from all our management committee which enabled the season to be completed and achieve the best possible outcomes for our players”.
At Senior level that included the ACE Men and Reserves going through their Brisbane Premier League season’s unbeaten, both winning Premierships, winning the Club Championship and Canale Cup.
ACE Women finished third in Capital League 1 but have been invited into the FQPL2 (state’s third tier) for 2022 as well as reaching the Elaine Watson Cup semi-finals for the first time.
Indeed, Mr Dooley said the transition from Football Brisbane to the new Football Queensland competitions will “provide a good challenge for us as a club and provide an opportunity for growth”.
Mr Dooley said financially ACE maintained its “very health balance sheet” and continues to meet “all obligations to our suppliers, players and coaches”.
The AGM heard that in February earthworks are expected to start on the new Queensland Centre of Excellence for Women’s Football beyond the lower fields at Brendale.
As a result, ACE will get more fields, as will Moreton Bay United, beside the areas for Brisbane Roar which will base its academy and women’s teams there.
Mr Dooley paid tribute to the “ongoing commitment and dedication displayed by our management committee and administrative staff to offer the club stability”.
All committee members from 2021 were returned to their positions, Elisha Hickey is also now Female Representative and Katrina Plant has also taken on the Sponsorship positions.
Two positions remain vacant, those of Merchandise Officer and Maintenance. Anyone interested in filling these positions is asked to contact the club.
The Life members were inducted – Greg Bradley, Tricia Mendham and Nick Crockford.
Mr Dooley closed the meeting wishing everyone a “prosperous and safe festive season” and looking forward to another great year in 2022.
