ACE is delighted to announce the appointment of Roberto Carvalho as our Director of Academy.
Roberto, who has an FA C Licence, recently joined ACE and brings a wealth knowledge and expertise in coaching young athletes.
The new Director says he is “committed to developing the skills and talents of the next generation of football stars”.
Roberto started as a player and moved into coaching while nursing injuries and discovered a love for teaching.
He left football in 2009 to work with amateur and professional boxers and MMA fighters for seven years, but returned in 2018 when his sons started playing.
“Roberto has made a tremendous impact, not just coaching the Under 11 FQAL team, but also the U12 FQAL team where he has stepped in, when required,” ACE Junior Vice-President Jason Gilbert said.
“From the earliest sessions and games it was clear the players connect very well with him and respond to his expectations and guidance.
“In taking on the Director of Academy role, the hope is to broaden the influence and glean from Roberto’s playing background alongside his coaching skills to continue building the quality of players at ACE that has seen the club now fielding two more Academy teams than last year.
“Roberto comes with a history of working, playing and coaching in high intensity and high demand environments.
“His calm and cool approach has already impacted many players and allowed them to find a calmness within their own games.”
Roberto is also playing this season with the ACE in the Over 35 Men’s team.
