Victoria Brebner is back at ACE to take care of some “unfinished business”.
It’s a timely signing for ACE ahead of Sunday’s clash with Capital League 1 leaders Ipswich Knights at Wolter Park, kick-off 5pm.
The former Peninsula Power striker brings experience and versatility to ACE, in fourth place after a solid start to their campaign.
Coach Jamie Sanckson said his new signing would bring a “cooler head and composure” to the squad’s mix of experienced and developing players.
Victoria, who spent 14 years at Power and has played in Victoria, signed for ACE last year before COVID brought football and the season an abrupt halt.

“Working in childcare I got worried about it (COVID),” she said, “I felt I needed to think about my career and health first and forwent football, which was difficult.
“But I thought I owed it to fulfill what I thought I was going to do last year. I definitely have some unfinished business here at ACE.
“I am glad to be back. It was a long year off. In between, I’ve had a baby who’s only six weeks old at the moment.
“I wanted to get my foot back in the game because I want my daughter to grow up watching me do everything I love to do.”
Victoria played much of ACE’s 1-0 defeat at North Brisbane last weekend, starting in attack and then switching to defence.
“It was close to 30 minutes in the first half and almost all the second half, so that was a solid effort for me,” she said.
“It felt amazing (to be back) though my legs didn’t quite cope to the end of the game.”
Victoria’s experience from the Brisbane Women’s Premier League and women’s state league NPLW – winning grand finals in both – will be important on Sunday.
“Ipswich will be a tough one,” said coach Jamie Sanckson, “they are similar to us in how they play, but on the day, when we play as we can, we can match it with anyone.
“I think it will be a good game. I’m looking forward to it.”
Midfielders Chloe Globke and Morgan Schoener will be back for ACE after missing last weekend’s game.
ACE Reserves, who have won their last two games, face Ipswich Knights Reserves at 3pm.
