Hugo Labaredas is back at ACE and has been appointed Club Technical Director for 2023.
He stepped down from the role in late 2020 for family reasons, but now “can’t wait to start working” at ACE again.
Junior Vice-President Jason Gilbert described the appointment as finalising “a major piece of the technical team structure”.
“The focal point for ACE will be coach education and support, of which Hugo brings a lot of experience and already has a rapport with many coaches and players,” he said.
“This approach will enhance the development of players and help to continue to ensure that ACE is a place where players enjoy their football.”

Hugo, originally from Portugal, played semi-professional football until injury struck and he hung up the boots in 2012.
“This was a turning point where I started my career in football coaching and discovered another passion,” he said.
“I am passionate about player development. I love to see the excitement and happiness in the young player’s faces when they play the game.
“I can’t wait to start working with our coaches and staff to create the best environment for our players to flourish and enjoy this beautiful game that is football.”
Hugo has a degree in High Performance Football Coaching from the University of Lisbon, an AFA B licence and other certificates in football and futsal.
“I believe that the knowledge, experience and skills that I have acquired in football will make me a valuable member of the club,” he said.
