ACE and Moreton Bay United may be taking an enforced break on the field, but there’s still been plenty of work going on for both our grounds.
Designs are well under way for the new Queensland Centre of Excellence in Women’s Football in Brendale which is planned to be open by 2023.
Construction work is expected to start within the next couple of months on the land beyond the two lower pitches with four new turf pitches and two new clubhouses.
ACE and Moreton Bay United will get two of the fields and one new clubhouse. Brisbane Roar will have the others for its women’s and junior programs.
Mayor Peter Flannery also wants to $18 million centre built and open in two years, before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup being hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
Moreton Bay United has successfully applied for and received a $35,000 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund for an LED electronic scoreboard.
It was one of 13 applications, submitted from clubs, zones and associations across the state, to receive funding in the latest round of the Benefit Fund.
Following the recent tragedy at Mitchelton where a spectator died after being hit by a scaffolding structure, ACE will be taking down the TV gantry at Wolter Park.
At the time of writing, no decision has been made on a replacement.
